We started with the question “Can we support the most commonly used features without actually loading the entire solution?” The result is a feature called “Lightweight Solution Load.” It defers loading of projects as much as possible while still providing the most commonly used features without projects being loaded. For other projects, we took a new approach to solutions in Visual Studio. You can read more about these improvements on the Visual C++ Team’s blog. These improvements allow Visual Studio 2017 to load LLVM solution 4 times faster compared to Visual Studio 2015 when you use “vcxproj” projects. At the same time, there are improvements in project load time in cases where the cache is not present. For C++ based projects, Visual Studio now utilizes a SQLite database to cache information to help open projects faster on all subsequent loads after the first. We have two new features that will allow you to load your complete solution significantly faster compared to previous versions. You will continue to see improvements as you load your solution to start coding in Visual Studio 2017.
We also added a new feature to help you understand which extensions and tool windows are impacting startup and solution load to give your better control of your Visual Studio environment. Some major examples include optimization of Xamarin and Python tooling components to only load when relevant projects are opened. We also made several improvements across different components to ensure subsequent startups are faster by reducing what’s loaded at startup. Granted, this is a one-time thing for most customers, so we’ve also made significant improvements elsewhere. Most users should find that it is now up to 3 times faster to start working with Visual Studio after installation compared to Visual Studio 2015. Right after installation, you will notice that it is now significantly faster to launch Visual Studio 2017 for the first time. Start your coding faster with faster startup and solution load And Visual Studio 2017 has better identification of extensions or tool windows that may be slowing down key scenarios like startup, solution load and typing. There are also some notable improvements in terms of memory usage in key scenarios, which should significantly reduce out of memory crashes (you can now open very large solutions solutions that were simply impossible to open in previous versions). Faster “F5” to start debugging your applications.Faster Git operations including fetching the latest version and viewing history.Faster solution load times for both C++ and C#.Faster first launch after installing and faster subsequent startups. This can be beneficial to other community members reading this thread.Performance was a big focus area for Visual Studio 2017, with improvements in many areas, including: Please remember to click "Mark as Answer" the responses that resolved your issue, and to click "Unmark as Answer" if not.

Research around and I have not found the way to manually configure this toolbox, and think about this forum is to talkĪbout installation of visual studio. Meanwhile, I found the toolbox not empty when I open xx.cs file. As I understand, it looks like this is designed.Īnd we need to manually add the web forms file and configure the toolbox.
I found the Toolbox is empty for mostly files like web form file, compare with VS 2017 and I found the Asp.NET Web Forms project in VS for Mac includes less folders and files, references and others. If I could get some helpful feedback I sure would appreciate it. There are just two buttons that say cancel or done.
I have tried opening back up the installer and it shows that everything that was available was installed and at the bottom it says nothing to install or update. Mode with that version you are able to see and work with the actual UI. I am a newbie to this newer version, but I have used visual studio 2005 for quite a while now.
Nothing seemed to change it still seems to be in code view. In code view, so I went to the view drop down and selected design view. I did click on the add button and still found nothing. when I went to open the toolbox there was nothing in it. After the installation was complete I opened it up and proceeded to develop my first website project. I opened up the installer and I guess automatically all the components are automatically set for installation or you can choose which ones you wish to install. I have downloaded the Visual Studio Community 2017 version for mac.
